Fixing a banner that gets cut off on phones
Load your existing banner, and the guides show immediately why it fails: the channel name sits outside the innermost box. Drag or zoom until it fits inside, download, and re-upload.

Browse all image toolsThe YouTube banner problem is not the size - it is the crop. You upload one 2560 by 1440 image, and YouTube then shows a different slice of it to every device: a television displays the whole canvas, a desktop browser shows only a 2560 by 423 strip through the middle, and a phone narrows that strip further, so the only region guaranteed visible everywhere is the central 1546 by 423 pixels. This is why so many channels have banners with the logo half-chopped or the channel name disappearing off the sides on mobile: the image was made at the right size but composed for the wrong slice. This tool puts the device zones on screen while you position the image. Drag and zoom your picture underneath live guides - the dimmed bands are what desktop viewers never see, the innermost box is what survives on every device - and download the exact-size file when everything that matters sits inside it.

A wide photo covers the canvas naturally. Position the interesting part of the scene inside the safe area, let the sky or landscape fill the television region, and export the exact-size file.
The upload is 2560 by 1440 pixels, with a 6MB file limit. But devices crop it: desktop shows a 2560 by 423 strip, and the area visible everywhere is the central 1546 by 423.
Because phones display only the central portion of the desktop strip. Anything placed outside the 1546 by 423 safe area disappears for mobile viewers - which is most viewers.
The parts of the canvas desktop browsers never display. Only televisions show them, so they should carry background, not information.
Channel name, logo, and anything textual inside the innermost safe box; atmosphere and imagery in the strip; pure background in the television-only bands.
