Shape and export choices
- Choose a simple source at least 64 pixels across. A complicated photograph can lose recognizable features when it becomes an icon, even if the browser produces exactly the requested width and height.
- Compare cover and contain using the visible preview. With a 3:2 photograph, cover removes the sides to fill the 64-pixel square; contain leaves space above and below the complete photograph. Move the crop so the subject remains centred.
- Export the 64 by 64 file in the format your target application accepts. Open the saved output at its natural size, where tiny text and thin strokes reveal problems that an enlarged preview can hide.
Good fits for Resize Image to 64×64
A wide source in an icon square
For a 1200 by 800 landscape source, cover scales it to 96 by 64 and removes 16 output pixels from each side. A centred subject remains, but a label near the original left edge can disappear. Check the crop while you can still return to the source.
Choose a recognizable small mark
A logo that contains a long company name may lose readable lettering at 64 pixels wide. Compare the permitted compact mark with the full wordmark rather than assuming every design can survive the same reduction. Keep the approved original for larger uses.
Check the image before download
- The 64-pixel result contains only 4096 pixel positions. A fine one-pixel line in the source can vanish during resampling, and a small wordmark can collapse into an indistinct shape. Prefer a compact symbol supplied for icon use where available.
- A square 64 by 64 canvas is independent of file size. An upload form may also demand a KB limit or a specific JPG/PNG format. Check each requirement on the saved output; renaming a file does not change its encoding.
- Cover can trim an element near the edge, while contain can make the central subject too small. The receiver may display the resulting square inside a circular mask, so leave important content away from the corners if that is how the slot works.
Questions about Resize Image to 64×64
Does cover stretch the picture?
Cover keeps the source proportions and trims overflow. Contain also keeps proportions but leaves background space. Neither choice needs to distort a circle into an ellipse to fill the square.
How should I check the downloaded image?
Confirm 64 by 64 pixels in the saved file's properties, then view it at the destination's intended size. Check the outer edges, small details and format before replacing an existing asset.
