Browse all pdf toolsUse this preset when a receiver allows a PDF up to 5MB and you want to reduce a larger report without immediately choosing a very tight ceiling. The extra budget can help visual material, but no file size guarantees that fine details will survive. Processing happens inside the browser: the source is checked, a structural rewrite is attempted if needed, and raster candidates may be measured for stronger reduction. The result reports which path was used. Keep the source document so that a later reader can still access any features lost in a raster copy.
Review the image that contains the smallest feature relevant to the report, not only a large overview photo. Confirm that shadows and neighbouring colours remain distinguishable. The file can meet 5MB while losing evidence a reader needs to inspect.
If four PDFs each approach 5MB, the combined total approaches 20MB. A submission-wide allowance can still fail. Add actual output sizes after processing and reserve room for other required attachments before assuming the upload is ready.
Use the largest size the destination accepts when preserving detail is important, then inspect the result. A smaller target may suit bandwidth constraints, but reduction has no inherent quality benefit once the requirements are met.
Retain the original when it contains selectable text, digital signatures, form fields or detailed vector content. A reduced visual copy serves distribution; it may not preserve the source's editable or verifiable structure.
