The cup standard used here
This converter divides millilitres by 240. Its cup is the 240 ml US legal cup, not the approximately 236.588 ml US customary cup or the 250 ml metric cup. There is no cup-standard selector on this page. Check the recipe's definition before using the output.
Common ml to cups conversions
With a 240 ml cup, 100 ml = 0.4167 cups, 120 ml = 0.5 cups, 180 ml = 0.75 cups, 240 ml = 1 cup, 250 ml = 1.0417 cups, and 500 ml = 2.0833 cups. One litre is 1000 ml and therefore approximately 4.1667 of these cups.
Scaling a recipe
A recipe calling for 360 ml of liquid needs 1.5 cups on this page's standard. For half the recipe, halve the millilitres first: 180 ml becomes 0.75 cups. Working from the original amount avoids accumulating rounding errors when scaling repeated batches.
Volume is different from ingredient weight
Millilitres and cups both measure volume. Grams measure mass, so converting 250 grams of flour, oil or sugar into cups requires ingredient-specific density information. Do not paste a weight into this tool: it reads the number and assumes millilitres. A metric measuring jug avoids a cup-standard mismatch when the recipe already specifies ml.
