It answers the everyday shopping question - what is 30% off this? - without the mental arithmetic that trips people up on odd percentages and awkward prices. Enter the price and the discount, and the savings and sale price appear instantly, calculated in your browser. The reason a discount calculator earns its place is that percentages fool people, especially on odd prices and large reductions. '40% off $67.50' is not something most people compute accurately in their head, and the error usually favours the shop. Seeing both the money saved and the final price side by side also makes offers comparable: a flat '$15 off' and a '25% off' swap places depending on the price, and only the actual saving tells you which wins. For stacked promotions - a coupon on top of a sale - apply the tool twice, taking the first discount and running its result back through, because two percentages do not simply add together. Seeing the real saving in cash also cuts through the psychology retailers rely on, where a big percentage on a small base feels larger than it is.

Check whether '30% off' really beats a flat amount off by seeing the actual money saved.
Taking 20% off 100 leaves 80. Taking another 10% off that result leaves 72, for a total discount of 28%, not 30%. Run the second percentage against the reduced price. A checkout may apply tax, shipping or exclusions separately, so compare the final payable total as well as the advertised saving.
Multiply the price by the percentage, then subtract. The tool does it instantly and shows both the saving and the final price.
Apply them one at a time - take the first discount, then run the result through again for the second.
