A tip calculator works out the gratuity on a bill, adds it to the total, and splits the whole thing between however many people are paying. It settles the two small frictions at the end of a meal - how much to tip, and what each person owes - in one step, and handles the awkward division that makes people reach for their phones anyway. Enter the bill, the tip percentage and the number of people, and the tip, total and per-person share appear at once. The awkward part of tipping is rarely the percentage; it is the division at the end, especially when a table is splitting an odd total several ways. This tool folds the two steps together so the per-person figure is ready before anyone reaches for a phone. Tipping customs vary enormously - a norm in one country is an insult or an overpayment in another - so the percentage is left entirely to you rather than assumed.
