A watermark gives a document visible context after it leaves the person who prepared it. Labels such as DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL, SAMPLE or a recipient name can discourage casual redistribution and prevent an unfinished copy from being mistaken for the approved version. This tool draws a centred text watermark directly onto PDF pages in the browser. Opacity, type size and angle are adjustable, and the mark can cover the complete document or only a written page range. The source file is never submitted to an upload queue.
What happens to the PDF
- Choose the PDF and enter the exact text that should appear. Short labels remain easier to read diagonally across different page sizes.
- Set opacity low enough for the underlying material to remain legible, then adjust text size and rotation for the document layout.
- Leave the page field empty for every page, or enter selections such as 1,3-8 when covers and signature sheets should remain unmarked.
- Create the output locally and inspect the download before sharing it, especially when pages use unusual rotations or dimensions.

Check before relying on the PDF
- A watermark is a visible notice, not encryption, copy protection or rights-management technology. A determined editor may remove it.
- Adding marks changes the PDF and therefore invalidates existing digital signatures. Keep the signed original as the authoritative copy.
- The current tool creates text watermarks. Image logos and tiled patterns are intentionally outside this first focused workflow.
- Very long text can extend beyond a narrow page. Prefer a concise label or reduce the type size.
- Watermarks become part of page content and may be read by extraction or accessibility tools in an order different from the visual page.
