Runs entirely on your deviceThe conversion happens in this browser tab. Nothing you type is uploaded, logged or stored, which is worth knowing for anything you would not paste into a search box.

Sixteen CSS pixels convert to 12 points using the standard 96 px per inch reference. Printed output can still change when a browser scales the page or a printer applies fit-to-page, so inspect the print preview.

About px to pt

Points are the print world's type unit; pixels are the screen's. Converting pixels to points bridges a screen design and a print spec, using the CSS reference of 96 pixels and 72 points to the inch. That makes 16px equal to 12pt, the classic body size, and 24px equal to 18pt - the figures a print stylesheet or a PDF export expects. Exporting a screen design to PDF or print is the usual trigger, where a layout thought of in pixels has to be restated in the points a print pipeline measures type in. Favicon and app-icon specs sometimes mix pixel and point references, so converting keeps a single size consistent across a screen asset and its print counterpart. CSS reference pixels do not specify a display panel pixel density; the point result is a layout-unit conversion. A 24px heading corresponds to 18pt under that reference; printer resolution is a separate setting.

Do not use CSS conversion as an image print calculator

The factor of 0.75 maps CSS pixels to points at the reference 96 px per inch. It does not tell you the print size of a photograph captured at an arbitrary resolution. For a raster image, physical print size depends on the chosen pixels-per-inch value. Keep font-size conversion and photo-resolution calculations separate when preparing a document for printing. Keep the raster's pixel count and selected print resolution alongside any physical-size calculation.
