A 250 g bag of flour weighs about 8.82 ounces. This is a mass conversion, not fluid ounces: volume depends on the ingredient's density, so it cannot turn 250 g of flour or oil into a reliable fluid measure.

About Grams to Ounces

Grams are the metric unit for small weights - ingredients, portions, postage - while ounces are how the same quantities are given in US recipes and older British ones. Converting grams to ounces is the cook's and the crafter's need: a recipe in grams, a scale that reads metric, a mailing weight, turned into the ounces a US instruction expects. One gram is about 0.0353 ounces, so it takes roughly 28 grams to make an ounce. Baking is where this matters most: a few grams out on yeast or salt changes a loaf, so converting to the ounces a US recipe assumes has to be precise rather than rounded. Coffee brewing has made this routine: a scale dosing beans in grams gives the ounce figure a US brew guide or a café's imperial recipe was written around. Weight ounces are not fluid ounces; a liquid-volume conversion also needs the liquid density.

Need the opposite? The oz-to-g converter is linked below and uses the exact inverse factor.

Use the ordinary weight ounce

A 100 g ingredient is about 3.5274 avoirdupois ounces. This conversion is for mass, not fluid ounces, and it is not the troy-ounce convention used for precious metals. If a recipe gives fl oz, identify the ingredient and volume standard instead of treating it as a weight.
