Online forms often reject a file because one small property is wrong: the extension, byte size, image dimensions, or PDF page count. Choose the finished file and enter the requirements you were given. This checker reads the file inside your browser and reports each check separately so you can fix the right problem before uploading.
Using Check File Requirements
- Choose the final file, not a screenshot or the original you changed. The checker reads its name, MIME type, byte size, image dimensions, or PDF page count locally.
- Enter only the requirements that apply. Leave a field blank when the receiving form did not specify that limit.
- A pass means the measured property is within the value you entered. It does not certify biometric photo rules, document contents, readability, or whether another portal will accept the file.
- If a check fails, use the matching Shard Tools resizer, compressor, converter, or PDF tool, then check the downloaded result again.

A PDF application form
Enter the maximum file size and page count from the portal. The checker confirms the downloaded PDF, while the fill and flatten tools handle the form fields themselves.
A school or job portal
Use the checker as the final pre-upload step. It catches a wrong extension or oversized file without requiring a third-party site to receive the document.
Before you use the result
- The checker does not upload the selected file. It loads the page and its application code normally, but the selected file is read in the current browser tab.
- Image dimensions can be checked for browser-readable image formats. A PDF page count is checked from the PDF structure; a damaged or encrypted PDF may not be readable.
- Passing technical checks does not guarantee acceptance. Portals may impose rules about content, background, signatures, naming, recency, or identity details.
- A file-size limit is usually a whole-file limit. A PDF that passes a per-page guess may still exceed the portal's total upload limit.
Questions about Check File Requirements
Does this upload my file?
No. The browser reads the selected file locally to measure its properties. No upload is needed to check the name, type, size, image dimensions, or PDF page count.
Can it tell me if a passport photo will be accepted?
It can check technical requirements such as file type, bytes, and pixels. It cannot certify face size, expression, lighting, background, recency, or the rules of the authority receiving the photo.
Why does my PDF pass but the portal still reject it?
A passing result covers only the properties you measured. The portal may require a different PDF version, page order, form state, filename, signature, readable content, or a smaller limit than the one you entered.
