About CSV Validator

A CSV validator catches the quiet way spreadsheets and exports go wrong: rows that do not all have the same number of columns, or a quoted field that is never closed. CSV looks trivial but is full of edge cases - commas inside quoted values, embedded newlines, stray quotes - and a single malformed row can throw off an entire import, shifting every column after it. This tool parses your CSV in the browser, quote-aware, and reports whether every row has a consistent column count, naming the first row that does not. Because it runs on your device, a customer list or an export full of personal data is checked without ever being uploaded.

Using CSV Validator

  1. Paste your CSV. It is parsed in this browser tab with a proper quote-aware parser, so commas inside quotes do not fool it.
  2. If every row has the same number of columns, the tool confirms the row and column counts.
  3. If a row is inconsistent, it names the row and how many columns it has against the first row, so you can find the misplaced comma or missing field.

Where csv validator helps

A shifted import

An import that misaligns from row 200 has an unescaped comma there; the validator points at the row with the wrong count.

An unclosed quote

A field with a stray quote swallows the rest of the file; the validator flags the unbalanced quoting.

A rectangular file can still contain wrong data

A two-column file headed name, amount may pass a structural check even when one amount contains unknown or a currency symbol that the destination rejects. Validate the delimiter and quoting first, then check required headers, blank values and data types against the receiving system. Keep identifiers such as 00123 as text when importing into a spreadsheet so leading zeroes survive.

Questions about CSV Validator

Why is my CSV misaligned?

Usually an unescaped comma or an unclosed quote in one row, which changes its column count and shifts everything after it. The validator names the row.

Does it check data types?

No - only structure: consistent columns and balanced quotes. Whether a column holds valid dates or numbers is a separate check.
